Description
This is my Suzuki GT250 registered in the UK from new with its original factory frame and engine numbers. I have the V5 in my name and the milage is approx 19000 which the bikes history indicates is correct. Tax and Mot exempt due to age and currently on sorn. The bike has had a total restoration regardless of cost and is near concours condition . It was already a very clean bike and has clearly had a very easy life compared to most. The bike has been hardly used since restoration and I have recommissioned it today. It starts easily and is mechanically quiet with no untoward rattles or noises. All 6 gears select smoothly with no false neutrals. The clutch is light and progressive with no slip or rattle. Both brakes work exactly as they should as do the forks and shocks. It settles to a smooth tickover and revs cleanly with good throttle response. The fuel tap is leaking and I guess the seals have perished or gone hard and need replacing before going on the road and thats about all I can find wrong. I have fitted a new battery today and all of the electrics are working. This bike has been restored absolutely regardless of cost using lots of genuine NOS Suzuki parts and the attention to detail is evident when looking over it.The restoration and rebuild cost approx £3000 and I have documentation and 36 pages of receipts of mostly NOS suzuki parts to support this. The forks restoration alone cost £460 and the nos genuine clutch was £200. All of the indicators , mirrors , every cable , every fastener and even every washer are genuine nos Suzuki parts. It would be difficult to restore another to this standard due to parts availability now. I have owned and restored Japanese motorcycles for 35 years and have shown bikes restored by me at Stafford and loaned my bikes to Kawasaki UK for display on their stand at Motorcycle Live at the Nec. I have had bikes restored by me featured in bike magazines. I know my way around classic bikes and this is one of the best Suzuki restorations I have seen and I have seen a lot. If I were to put on my trainspotter anorak and be critical then I would say that some of the detail is not 100% factory correct such as the chrome sidestand. Bad points about the bike include a small dink in the tank which is hardly noticeable and easy to sort. There are always things which can be improved but this bike is 99% there and is an exceptional bike and a sound investment. The terms of the auction are that it is sold as seen and described. It is for sale off Ebay so it may be sold. No part exchange as I already have too much stuff. Payment to be by cash or bank transfer. No overseas bids without prior contact. Viewing is possible but no test rides as its on sorn. Bidding is a commitment to buy and the final price is binding on both sides. Non paying winner gets negative feedback and reported to Ebay so make sure you can complete. Sorry to those who are genuine. I may be able to help with transport if needed. The auction has no reserve and it will sell to the highest bidder. Good luck and any questions please ask.
